Burns Supper 2008
The Burns Supper 2008 was held in the Jabrin Ballroom of the Muscat Intercontinental Hotel on Thursday 24th January 2008. The warning of long speeches didn't seem to deter the sell out 260 strong crowd.
Following the champagne reception on arrival the evening kicked off with the piping in of the ceremonial haggis, kindly donated by the Gulf Chef School. Bill Henry then delivered the traditional Burns' 'Address to a Haggis'. Rosie Kolster entertained between courses with two beautiful traditional Burns songs and Bill Henry delivered another dramatic performance of extracts from Tam o' Shanter. Immortal Memory by John Hall, a very witty toast to the Lassies by Andy Wood followed by the reply on behalf on the lassies by Hannah Loudoun.
The band, Skalder all the way from Orkney, then commenced the dancing which carried on until the wee small hours.
