The Caledonian Society of Oman is thought to be the oldest expatiate society in Oman being founded in 1976.  The main aim of the society is to raise funds for both Omani and Scottish charities by organising high quality Scottish themed events.

Our three main events of the year are:

  • The Burns Supper
  • The Summer Ceilidh
  • The St Andrew's Ball

Breaking News

Kenneth MacfarlaneWe have a new chieftain & committee! At the AGM held on Tuesday 31st March our new chieftain and committee were elected. Kenneth Macfarlane takes over the prestigious position from 1st April 2009 and will hold the post for 2 years.   For more information about the Kenneth and the 2009 - 2011 committee please click here.

Gary MannersThe Caledonian Society of Oman would like to say an enormous thank you to Gary Manners who has been a wonderful chieftain over the past two years.  Without Gary's hard work and perseverance obtaining sponsorship for our functions the society would not have been able to donate a record breaking amount of money to charity over his term.   Your commitment has been much appreciated, "THANK YOU!".

Scottish Food Night

Food NIghtOur next function will be the Scottish Food Night to be held on Thursday 1st October 2009 in the Jabrin ballroom of the Muscat Intercontinental Hotel.

Enjoy Scottish Fayre prepared under the guidance of the Intercontinental?s Scottish Chef, look out your disco gear and dance the night away to music provided by Mr. Andy Pyzer, and test your knowledge of Scotland ? amongst other things ? in our fun quiz!!

A great value fun night?s entertainment and our first post Ramadan get together. Tickets will be on sale in the Intercontinental Lower Lobby on Tues 8th Sept from 8-9am and 6-7pm.  Prices TBC. 

Mark these important dates in your diary so you don't forget over the summer break!

Treasure Hunt

Our annual treasure hunt will be held in November on a date to be confirmed.  Again please keep an eye on the website for the exact details.  Always a great day out for the whole family!

St Andrews Ball

The Caledonian Society?s biggest event of the year will be held in the Intercontinental Hotel Gardens on December 3rd.  By popular request we are bringing back the band ?Whisky Kiss? who played at last year?s function.  Tickets will go on sale in November, so please keep an eye on the website for exact details and costs.

Burns Supper 2010

A special event to be held this year in the gardens of the Residence of the British Ambassador, HE Dr Noel Guckian on January 28th 2010. Definitely one not to be missed!!  Exact details to be confirmed nearer the time, but as always, keep an eye on the website.

Please be aware that we are doing everything within our power to keep the costs of our functions down.  We have noticed increases in all areas involved in organizing our functions, but we are constantly negotiating with the hotel and suppliers to minimize the effects of this on our ticket prices.
